- New 20k sq ft M&S foodhall opens in Ladymead Retail Park, Guildford
- Located 1.3 miles from Guildford town centre, serving 219,000 people within a 20-minute drive
- Modern retail building with significant improvements including an increased energy performance rating (EPC) to the highest ‘A’ grading
MetroBox, a joint venture between Tritax Group and real estate investor Delancey, is pleased to announce the opening of a new 20,000 sq ft M&S supermarket at Ladymead Retail Park in Guildford. The new supermarket will join existing tenants such as Currys and Next, and will broaden Ladymead’s retail offering with a comprehensive range of products that includes food, flowers and wine.
The new unit, formally comprising an Argos and a relocated Sports Direct store, has been transformed, creating a modern retail space with added floor capacity, improved landscaping, and a new glazed frontage.
The retail park is situated 1.3 miles from Guildford town centre and serves a catchment area of approximately 219,000 people within a 20-minute drive. It has excellent access to the A3 and A25 motorway and has 510 parking spaces.
Improving energy performance was a key focus of the redevelopment, in line with MetroBox’s strategic priority of developing sustainable assets with strong performance across GRESB and EPRA ratings. The building now enjoys an EPC rating of A, increased from a D.
A spokesperson for Metrobox, commented:
“Retail warehousing is now at the centre of omnichannel trading strategies, and Ladymead Retail Park offers a rare opportunity to occupy prime space strategically located near Guildford. The park serves a large catchment area just outside one of the strongest town centres in the country, and is already home to well-known national brands. We expect the addition of M&S to cement Ladymead as a prime out-of-town shopping destination in the wider Surrey region.”
